The fourth annual Texas State Missions Conference was very informative and enjoyable. It was held on Tuesday, April 24th at the facilities of New Liberty Baptist Church in Garland. The speakers were Bro. Larry Fincher from Louisiana and Bro. Dubs Byers from Arkansas. Bro. Fincher spoke on Leadership and Bro. Byers spoke on Changes. They both did an outstanding job and those who attended were very complimentary. The Mattingly Family sang for the Conference and that was also enjoyable.

I want to express my appreciation to those pastors and churches who provided the facilities and funds for the Conference. Some of these churches have been sponsors each year and we are very grateful for their help. The Pastors and churches who provided for the conference are John Bryant, Unity in Texarkana, Glenn Griffith, Nevill’s Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, Marc Shultz, Eastfield in Mesquite, Ken Ashlock, New Liberty in Garland, Bobby Sparks, Emmanuel in Greenville, and Craig Rodgers, Cornerstone in Grapevine, Chad Thompson, South Union in Daingerfield.

Plans are already being made for the Conference next year. We plan to focus the next Conference on the youth and young people of our churches. So many of them leave our churches when they go away for college. We need to know how to keep them involved in Missionary Baptist Churches. Pray for us as the plans are being made.

“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the Harvest that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.”

April was a great month for Emmanuel MBM. We started out the month with a family of four visiting with us. They are thinking of moving to Sugar Land. They are prayerfully seeking God’s will as to where He would have them move. We also were finally able to get our lettering placed on the window of our building. We also found out that our lighted sign to go up on the front of our building has been approved. This is the end of a long, hard ordeal. We continue to do our regular door-to door visitation and continue to work with prospects in the area. I was blessed to attend the Texas Missions Conference in Garland. I certainly enjoyed the speakers and the fellowship. The Mission has a great need for more monetary support. Our bills total just over $2,400.00 per month. Even with the help of our sponsoring church and some supporting churches, we are falling about $500.00 short of meeting our bills each month. We ask that you would prayerfully consider sending offerings for this much needed work in an area of close to 500,000 souls. Please send all offerings to Twinland MBC of Houston.

The highlight of April was Easter Sunday. We had a good number of people, baptized two and had dinner on the grounds. Also, this month, The Mattingly Family came and shared their talents with our congregation. We had a fifth Sunday singing and enjoyed each other’s fellowship. We have several returning visitors in our services and have had first time visitors that we met through visitation. We are hoping for a big Vacation Bible School in June. Thank you for your prayers.

“Whereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world’s goods and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” I Jn 3:16-18. All praises to God for his marvelous works. April is always a good month for soul winning. We witnessed four accept Christ as Savior, as well as a number of rededications during this Easter month. We had a total of seventeen additions for the month of April. Our monthly activities included viewing of the Passion of the Christ and Easter Sunrise services. We had an attendance high of nearly 300 for our Easter morning services. Praise God!

The month was also busy for me as I was blessed with the opportunity to preach at our South Texas District Brotherhood meeting held at Calvary Baptist Church in Baytown. We had a wonderful time in fellowship and the food was as good as the preaching! I also enjoyed going to New Liberty Baptist Church in Garland to participate in the annual Leadership and Church Growth Conference. We were blessed by two awesome speakers in Bro. Dubs Byers and Bro. Larry Fincher. I send a heartfelt thanks to those responsible for organizing and facilitating this great conference. I know that my ministry and our mission will benefit greatly from the information we received. I am looking forward to next year’s conference. Thanks!

Pray for me as I deal with a recent diagnosis of diabetes. I should be able to control it with some medication, a proper diet and exercise. I was having some challenges with my vision but it is steadily improving now that everything is getting back within normal ranges. Thanks to those who have already been praying for me. God is so faithful!

Thanks to those who contribute regularly, as well as those who give one-time donations. The Lord provides! I am grateful to Texas Mission Development, the MBA of Texas, Mission Bend BC of Houston, Calvary MBC of Baytown, Florida Avenue BC of Beaumont and Baker Drive BC in Dickinson. Without you, and others like you, without the monetary gifts and prayers for our Mission, we could not do what we do for Christ.

April was an exciting month for us at Vanderbilt. The Lord blessed us with one profession of faith and one baptism. There are others who need to make this same decision and we are praying for this to happen soon. We have had several visitors during the month. Our attendance on Easter Sunday was very good with 77 in attendance.

We enjoyed a good revival. Bro. Charles Williams did an outstanding job of preaching the Word of God. Our people were truly blessed by the powerful messages. We celebrated our eighth anniversary on the same day we closed the revival and had lunch at the church. We had a total of 66 for Worship Service and others came in for lunch. It was a great day of fellowship with God’s people. This is just a little taste of what heaven will be like.

Our young people continue to invite their friends to Discovery Club and we had 45 on April 22nd. Please continue to pray for our church. We appreciate all the churches in Texas.

The month of April was filled with incredible blessings from above. We are continually amazed at God’s blessings. We are seeking His ways in each and every decision. The month of April was exciting as we celebrated the resurrection of Christ. We had 84 in attendance for our Easter Worship service. We rented a movie theater in downtown Grapevine to hold this special service.

We are still seeking a more permanent facility. The property that was offered to us in the past has come back on the market. The owner was attempting to get more money for the property and stopped negotiations with us. We are considering an extended lease instead of purchasing due to cost of property in our area.

We have several who will be making the Medical Missions trip to Paraguay in May. Please pray for these missionaries. We are also planning for some to go to Peru. This young Mission work
has accepted the call for mission service. It is very exciting. We are also planning to make a mission trip to the Navajo Nation in July. We will be supporting the VBS team with Bro. Dean Grigsby. We had many visitors this month. Please pray for us as we reach into the community. We look forward to seeing you in June. If you would like to hear about the work in Grapevine please call me at 817-343-5900.

April was a good month. The first week of the month we had our 48th Homecoming Services, groundbreaking for the new building, and spring revival services. Today we had the honor of having Bro. Randy Cloud in our services. The church continues to progress. Attendance has been down a little but the fellowship among the people is better than it has ever been. The work on the building continues to pick up speed, too. The plans have been approved by the City, with some minor changes. The civil engineer has begun the work on the drainage system and parking lot and our contractor is getting ready to start. The only hold up we can see is getting the old building ready to be demolished. The city has told us that we have to have an asbestos inspection done because we are considered a commercial building. We have been told that if asbestos is found in it then it could cost upward of $20,000 to $25,000 to get it professionally removed. Current costs have our project at $180,000.00.. So far, the Lord has sent us $135,426.00. Praise God for his good gifts.

Our needs are simple today. Please join us in prayer that the Lord will open a way to get the old building demolished in a more economical way. The cost of asbestos removal was not figured into the cost of the project. We thank you for your prayers and support.
