Total Church Offering $3,345.00 Gave To Missions $450.00

This has been an exciting month. Our choir has been working on a musical for Easter Sunday, “Love Grew Where The Blood Fell.” Our ladies are anxiously anticipating the study of Beth Moore’s book, “Esther; It’s Hard To Be A Woman.” They will begin that study soon. Several others have joined our Monday night Bible study at the parsonage.

The highlight of the month has been that three were saved. After baptizing three the first Sunday, three more came and trusted Jesus as their personal Savior. Two of these are bilingual. We have been praying for a Spanish ministry and God may be putting one in our midst. Thank you for praying for this work in Irving. Come by and visit anytime.

March was a good month for us in many ways. The Lord blessed with three additions by letter. This is the first time in my 45 years of ministry that I had people unite with a church I pastored before they heard me preach. The reason they joined was that they felt the work of the Holy Spirit in our services and I use the King James Version of the Bible. The Holy Spirit moves in marvelous ways. This speaks very well for our church. I have a great people at Vanderbilt. Thank God for the work they are doing. I believe in giving people flowers while they live. We give God all the glory. I will preach again on April 5th. God has blessed me and I am able to walk with a cane. Please continue to pray for me. We continue to have first time visitors in most of our morning services. Please pray that we will have more additions soon. Come visit with us when you have an opportunity.

It is hard to believe that another month has come and gone. We, here at Meadowbrook, have been very busy this month. We had a pipe break in the kitchen and it flooded the entire church. Thank God for insurance! Now we have to find someone to repair the damage.

Please keep Jayla Cooper and her family in your prayers. She is 9 years old with terminal leukemia. She has been told she only has days to live. Please remember this child in your prayers.

LONGVIEW – It is a pleasure to bring you this month’s report. God is still working through the work we are doing. After visiting the community of Longview, my family and I, along with Bro. Pedro, a family opened their door to listen to the Gospel and started attending church. The first Sunday they attended, they kneeled in the aisle and put their right hand on the Bible. There was three of them. The Mom, her son, and to my surprise, my oldest son, Mario Jr. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and asked forgiveness of sins. PRAISE GOD! Bro. Pedro Pina has been having financial problems so please pray for him that the Lord will supply his needs so that he can continue in school and the work God has called him to do.
MISSION TRIP TO SAN JUAN, MEXICO
The spring break gave me an opportunity to do the mission trip to San Juan, Mexico where my Father is buried. We had more than 10 professions of faith at my Father’s funeral. One of my relatives was interested in having home Bible lessons to learn more about God’s word. I invited Bro. Abel Oviedo, who works in Mission, TX to assist me with this. He lives two hours away from San Juan but he is putting much effort and money into making this mission trip with me. The first two days there were 14 professions of faith. They told us they wanted to continue the Bible study so Bro. Abel Oviedo offering to meet with them for Bible Study every Wednesday. It would be very difficult for me to do this because I live 15 hours away. I am planning to make the trip every two months. I love to work with people like Bro. Pedro and Bro. Abel who love the mission work. Bro. Abel will be spending about $200.00 each month riding the bus to San Juan, MX. Unity MBC of Longview has already voted to send him $100.00 each month to help supply his tickets. He still needs more support to pay for them but he has never asked me for this money. I know he needs it. If you need more information about this work, you can contact me and I will give you his address. Call me at 903-646-2517. Thank you and God Bless You.

LELAND ACKER
BROWNWOOD

Souls Saved 8 Baptisms 0 Letter 0 Statement 0
Sunday School and Morning Worship 16
Total Church Offering $481.65

This is probably the best month I have had in the ministry. Ken and Barbara Sibley visited Brownwood and presented the Gospel at the Market Place Apartments, the Brownwood Housing Authority and Grace Pointe MBM. We had 36 in attendance at the Market Place, 49 at the Brownwood Housing Authority (with six making professions of faith) and 23 at Grace Pointe (with two professions of faith). We had a total of eight professions of faith and increased attendance ever since. We are currently planning other big events which should yield larger harvests, but these plans are still in the conceptual phase.

Regarding baptisms, since we have no building and no baptistery (and since I am hesitant to associate with other churches in this manner), we have to wait until Lake Brownwood heats up. We are planning to hold our first baptismal services in early June. Two people are currently awaiting baptism.

Our Tuesday night youth programs are going strong with two new regular visitors attending the past three weeks. We average 15 in attendance for this. Wednesday night services at Market Place are growing with our average attendance for March being 18 (up from 14 in February). One great thing about the ministry at Market Place is that regular attendees at those services are now visiting the Grace Pointe Mission.

Please be in prayer for us. When we first came to Brownwood, I thought our biggest challenge would be getting people to attend services. Numbers are not going to be our biggest challenge, as it appears the people here are thirsty for solid scriptural teaching and preaching of the Gospel. Our biggest challenge now is teaching the congregation what a church is and how to covenant together to carry out God’s work.

God is really blessing here and I am truly thankful for the churches who support this work financially, through our sponsoring church or through the MBA of Texas. Above all I appreciate every church and individual who support this work in their prayers. Thank you! I am truly blessed to be a state missionary in Brownwood, TX for the Missionary Baptist Association of Texas.

We had 25 visitors this month, 13 of them being first time visitors. One family of 11 have been repeat visitors. They have children and it is nice to have children in our services again. Please pray that God will lead them to join with us, if it be His will.
Two of our members who have been out of service have been attending regularly this month. We still have illness among our members. We now have a home Bible study. Pray that this will become a success. Thank you for your support and please pray for us as we serve the Lord in Mabank.

Sunday School 20 Morning Worship 24 Evening Worship 21
Total Church Offering $3,767.75 Gave To Missions $360.00

This month has literally been up and down. The first and last Sundays the attendance was up. The three Sundays in between the attendance was down. When averaged out, we came out down a little. We still had a couple of first time visitors.

We have slowly begun to get some things done that needed to be done, but we have a long way to go. We are reaching out into our community in several different ways. Some are showing promise. We ask that you continue to pray for us. The offerings that come in are few. We could sure use some additional support. I will be glad to come to your church or association meetings if you would like me to. Just give me a call. During the day you can call at 936-598-3914. During the evening you can call at 936-598-8098.

JIM SLOCUMB
TEXAS MISSION DEVELOPMENT

I enjoyed very much representing Texas Mission Development during March. My travels and appointments included Westwood Baptist Church for their Mission Conference in Odessa, Maple Grove MBC of Minden, revival services at Rocky Springs MBC in Dialville, Vanderbilt MBC of Tyler and Logansport MBC of Logansport, LA.
All of March preaching appointments, except Westwood, have been recipients of the TMD Funds. It was a blessing to see what the funds have helped to accomplish at these projects.

On March 20th, the ballots were counted to choose a second quarter 2009 project. The Heartland MBM of Longview received a majority of 39 votes. There were 89 ballots returned by our supporters. A notification of our second quarter project has been mailed to all our supporters.

On March 27th, I retired from my job at the State hospital. Thank you for your support.
