Two items need to be mentioned in this article. The second annual Pre-associational meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009. The meeting will be hosted by Rocky Springs MBC at Dialville, near Jacksonville where Bro. Charles Swilling is the Pastor. The starting time is 10:00 a.m. NO BUSINESS WILL BE CONDUCTED AT THIS MEETING. It is simply for the purpose of sharing information. Each church and Missionary requesting help will be asked to be present for this meeting and those in attendance who represent one of our churches will be given a chance to ask questions.
Also, if there are questions or concerns about the proposed Mission Policy, this will be a good time to ask those questions. Again, no business will be conducted.

Hopefully, you have read and prayed about the proposed Mission Policy that was presented at the 2008 Annual Messenger Meeting. The proposed Mission Policy was referred to the churches to make a decision on and will be decided in the 2009 MBA Messenger Meeting held at Mount Pleasant MBC in Denison in November. If you need a copy of the proposed mission policy to read and study, you will find it on pages 41 and 42 of the 2008 MBA of TX Minute Book. If you have questions, contact me at cbmin1@verizon.net or telephone 972-272-7727.

Thank you for your continued support of the Missionaries of the MBA of Texas.

Our ladies are half finished with the Beth Moore Bible Study on Esther. This has been a wonderful bonding and growing time that hopefully will last a long time. We are looking forward to Pastor Dan McGuire and members of Crossroads MBC near Hughes Springs coming in July to help us with outreach for a few days. This is the same great group of people that came to Jackson, MI about five years ago. We need more churches like this.

We have been using response cards on Sunday mornings. This has been a great way to minister and keep up with people. We are continuing to have our GROW outreach. We ended the month with a 5th Sunday fellowship and had 37 in attendance.

It is good to visit with you again. I am happy to be a Christian and called by God to preach the Word of God. The Lord is continuing to bless our Mission. We are having visitors and I believe them to be good prospects. Some of our visitors are bringing other visitors. It is our prayer that God will move upon their hearts and they will become a part of our church family.

My health is improving every week. You are welcome to visit with us anytime you are in Tyler. Please continue to pray for us.

Greetings from Meadowbrook. Friends, summer is here and the kids are ready for it. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to witness to our community. We were blessed on the last Sunday of this month. A dear lady who has been visiting came forward and made known that she had accepted Jesus as her Savior. She wants to be baptized. God is good and may He richly bless all our brothers and sisters in Christ.

GOOD NEWS!

TATUM

The Lord has blessed greatly this month with a profession of faith at Tatum. We are so happy to let you know that the Lord also provided us with an AC unit. We continue knocking doors, making new contacts to teach them the word of God. We are planning to have a VBS and we ask you to please pray so the Hispanic people can leave their idols and come to the Lord. The highest attendance in Tatum was 16.

LONGVIEW AREA

Many people in the Longview area have lost their jobs which has caused them to move away from the area. We are also planning to have VBS there. My family and I are planning to move to the Longview area but it has been complicated to find a home and to buy one. We are thinking about renting a mobile home but have not found one yet. If you know anything about a mobile home being rented in that area, please let us know. It would be a great help. The reason we want to move is because of the price of gas. We drive about 500-600 miles each week doing the Great Commission work. We spend around $85.00 each week on gasoline. Please pray about this need. We really don’t want to move but we can’t let that get in the way of the Lord’s work. School is now on vacation. The highest attendance in Longview was 16.

VACATION TIME

I am going on May 31st to San Juan, MX with Bro. Abel Oviedo. There will be four Mexican preachers and one Gringo preacher, Bro. Ray Williams of Longview. We are going to stay three days in Mexico, knocking on doors and witnessing in the town. We are going to have services under a tree in my aunt’s backyard. The last time I talked with Bro.Oviedo he told me that he has 14 in attendance and one waiting for baptism. Bro. Williams is going to be the speaker in Mission, TX on Wednesday night. Pray for him so the Lord will use him in a great way.

Sunday School and Morning Worship 21
Total Church Offering $853.00 Gave To Missions $160.30

God has really blessed the work in Brownwood. Our attendance in morning worship has exceeded the capacity of the apartment’s community room that we have been using so we have rented a vacant church building on West Commerce (Hwy. 84) in Brownwood. Northcrest Baptist Church in Andrews delivered 10 church pews, a pulpit and a communion table that had been donated by an individual in Andrews. I am thankful for Bro. Harvey Enriquez and Bro. Bo who made the trip to Brownwood to deliver the pews. Northcrest had been storing the pews in the garage at the parsonage for us. We will have the first services in the new building on June 7th and will have special baptismal services at Lake Brownwood on June 14th. All are invited to attend.

Grace Pointe will host the Southwest Association Mission Rally on the last Saturday in July. The morning program will be at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at approximately 11:30 am or noon. Bro. Jim Slocumb, TMD Director, will bring the message during the afternoon session at 1:00 p.m. If you would like to attend and need more information, please call me at 325-200-8531. Praise be to God for His bountiful blessings!

We had 20 visitors in May. One was a first time visitor and the others were repeats. We have a lot of praise reports. Bettye Nichols does not have cancer. James Whitley does not have cancer, but his wife, Tina, was in a car accident. Tina and a friend hit a deer that ran in front of them. They were not hurt. The deer did not go through the windshield. Our sick folks are slowly getting over the crud that is going around. I have been sick with my chrons but I am getting better. We are starting a BTC course in June. We have a special prayer request for our grandson. Please ask God to be with him through all his problems. Continue to pray for us as we do God’s work. God bless you all.

Total Church Offering $2,969.00 Gave To Missions $296.00

The month of May was a good month over all. Our attendance and offerings were up by a small amount. We had two new visitors attend.

The highlight of the month was a visit by a group from TMD. They were with us on May 17th and presented us with a check in the amount of $24,701.00. This will greatly help to get our building back in order I want to say this with respect to Texas Mission Development: I have led the churches I pastored to support TMD since it began. TMD is a wonderful way for all of us to help missions and churches. The money that was given to us will hasten our ability to become a strong church much sooner than it would have been without it.

We, at Heritage, are coming to the place where our purpose is beginning to be visible, but we still need your prayerful support. Many circumstances contributed to our demise but none of them were of a nature that we could have prevented. There was no church trouble, no one was mad. We ask your prayers and support as we rebuild this once strong church.

JIM SLOCUMB
TEXAS MISSION DEVELOPMENT

I did not have very many appointments in May but it was a very profitable month. My activities included a ballot mail-out to all TMD supporters, a men’s retreat at Pine Springs, a TMD information presentation and message to Missionary Baptist Church in Corsicana, a message and presentation of First Quarter Funds, in the amount of $24,800.00, to Heritage MBC in Center and a TMD report and Mission message to Liberty MBC of Blodgett, TX.

On May 21st my Mother was taken to the hospital in Jacksonville. She passed away the next day, May 22nd. She would have been 100 years of age on May 23rd. Thank you for your prayers and words of comfort.
