We have come to the close of 2011 and are now looking forward to the New Year ahead with great anticipation for God’s blessings on the Missionaries and Churches who work together in the great state of Texas as Missionary Baptist Churches.  Nancy and I are beginning our tenth year in the office of Secretary-Treasurer.  It has been a great joy for us to have this privilege to serve our Lord’s churches.  As we began this service we were challenged to request additional support to take care of the missionaries who had been approved for support that year.  The churches responded, very generously, to our request for more support.  We ended the first year with a good balance and our prayer to God was that He would give us more missionaries to support with the funds the churches provided.

God answered that prayer by sending more missionaries so now the challenge once again is for an increase of approximately 10% in the year ahead.  I do believe our churches in this Association will rise to the challenge and provide for the Missionaries in the work God has called them to do.

I want to ask you to remember the Resurrection Offering which will be requested again this year.  This will be the second Sunday in April but your church can send it any time you choose.  We will be happy to receive it in March or May, or anytime.  Our goal is $30,000.00.  I believe this goal will be easily met if we begin now to remind our church members.  God has promised that He will provide ALL our needs.  Let’s give Him a chance by increasing our offerings.

December is a month I would like to have skipped.  As I write this report I have all the pneumonia reactions and waiting the decision of my doctor whether or not he will put me in the hospital.  Believe me, I feel horrible!  Please pray for my wife as she cares for me.

At the Mission, we need your prayers.  Whatever the future holds it will always be in God’s hands.  Our sponsoring church, Bassett Road MBC in Palestine, came over on the third Sunday evening and presented their youth Christmas program.  It was wonderful!  Thank you for your cards and prayers throughout the Christmas Season.  Let’s set our sights on following the direction of the Holy Spirit in 2012.

On Dec.3rd I was privileged to preach at the Mission Valley Association Pastor’s

Conference at Shiloh MBC in San Antonio.  We welcomed our newest member, Spencer O’Connor, on the 7th.  Please pray for him as he feels led of God to go to Seminary. This is the second young man to surrender to the ministry in the past two months.  On the 9th we had a church fellowship, followed by a game of “Bible Jeopardy.” A good time was had by all with 23 in attendance.

I was able to take about four days to visit with family in Mississippi before returning to Kerrville to move my family into a new house.  Praise God!  We were settled in by December 23rd.  God bless you for supporting missions in Texas.  Please keep us in your prayers.

Thank you again to the churches of the MBA of Texas and to Bro. Marion Reed for the faithful support.  December has been a good month, as well as a very busy month. God sent us 20 visitors for the month.  On December 11th we honored Bro. Bill and Sis. Frances Mitchell, our Musicians.  They have been serving the Lord faithfully for over 60 years.  Their three grown children and some other family members were present for the special service.  The Heartland ensemble presented Christmas music on December 18th in the morning worship service.

A number of our members are faithfully sharing the Gospel, inviting others to church and ministering to people. What a blessing that God’s people serve the Lord faithfully. Please continue to pray with us that souls will be saved and God will add more faithful workers.  “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.”  Truly there are many lost souls and unchurched all around us.

It is an honor and privilege to be in the Lord’s Army.  Preaching the Gospel and sharing our faith is what serving God is about.  We must learn to “Trust and Obey” every day.  Thank you for your prayers and financial support.

God is good all the time!  Attendance and offering numbers are down due to holiday travel and illness.  Nevertheless, we remain optimistic as we are planning new outreach efforts for 2012.

We have identified a possible permanent church building to purchase.  We think it would meet our needs for the foreseeable future, and we believe we can get it for a good price.

We have continued to see prayers answered and lives changed.  This doesn’t always result in increased church attendance, but we love and pray for them anyway.

TEXAS MISSION DEVELOPMENT

December is always a month of joyous celebrations of the birth of our precious Savior, Jesus Christ.  God blessed me with three appointments to preach and represent the Texas Mission Development Program.

I was blessed to attend Rocky Springs MBC on two Sundays and hear Pastor John Paul Littel preach.  This was a blessing!  Another joy was attending the Kirkland Memorial Lectures at TBI.  December was mailout time for 4th quarter ballot results.  Our new project is Eastside MBC in Jacksonvlle for Pine Springs Camp.  I am excited and hoping for a new record offering.

We give thanks to our Great Lord for all that He has provided and the people we have been given to work with.  We continue to have Mr. Chavez visiting.  We ask for your continuing prayers for the Garza family for work and housing.  We also ask for your prayers for the adoption process of William from Missouri.  My wife attended a visitation the week before Christmas.

As we go into the new year, we pray for people that the Lord will prepare their hearts to hear and want to be taught the Word.  May the Lord continue to bless as we do His will.

During December we began a Bible study at a local retirement apartment complex.  We are excited about sharing the truth of God’s Word with these folks.

Construction is well underway at the Noah Project next door to our building.  The Noah Project is a local organization dedicated to the welfare of women and children who have experienced, or are in danger of experiencing, abuse.  We look forward to having our new neighbors and helping them in their mission when possible.  Please pray that we will be able to minister to these residents as God affords us opportunity.

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to the blessings of a new year in 2012.  On a personal note, our youngest son, Ethan, was selected to begin the Academy  of the Abilene Police Department in late January 2012.  We are very thankful for this accomplishment and trust that Ethan will choose to be used of God as he serves our Community.

RICKY O’NEAL

BEREAN PRISON BIBLE STUDY

Grace and peace to all my brethren and sisters in Christ. I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas season.  We had a good month in December as we had twenty four (24) saved.  This is the most for any month in 2011.  We were praying for a total of 200 saved souls in 2011 but God gave us an additional 24 so we had a grand total of 211 for the year.  Over  the life of this ministry we have a  total of 2,762 saved.

We were blessed with the finances to send out over 3,000 copies of The Gospel Call.  We are hoping and praying that we can reach a total of 3,000 souls saved by the end of 2012.

Please pray with us that the Lord of the harvest will help us to be about our Father’s business.  Thank all of you who support the Missionary Baptist Association of Texas and those who support The Berean Bible Study.
