Missionary Salaries - $16,435.00
Administrative Salaries and Expense - $3,352.52
Minute Fund Expense - $160.57
Designated To Property and Buildings - $251.35
Ending Balance - $230,923.98

As this report is being prepared, it is just two weeks until the Wednesday morning session of the Missionary Baptist Association Messenger Meeting. This is when the Missionaries and Projects will be selected for support during 2009-2010. Hopefully, you are already praying for each of these and praying that their individual ministries will be successful for God’s honor and glory.

I want to thank each one who attended the Pre-Associational meeting. There was good representation from each area of our state. All of the annual Local Association meetings are now behind us. We did not get to attend as many as usual this year because I was ill with a sinus infection/upper respiratory infection and because we had two very special weddings to attend. Two of our granddaughters were married this fall; one in September and one in October. It was a blessing for this Grandad to be able to do the ceremonies for these two very precious girls.

Thank you so much for your continued support of the MBA of Texas. Thank you for all the prayers you say for the Missionaries and all the acts of kindness you show to them.

As we have been knocking on doors and sharing Jesus, He is bringing new faces to us. The response cards have been great for guests and members sharing burdens. A young couple has moved from Kansas to our area and he is helping with the music program. They have three children.

Our children are working on a skit to present on Sunday mornings. The newest skit is “King Ahab and Jezebel.” It helps to see the skit before hearing the message. Our ladies will begin another Beth Moore Bible study in January. After the busy holidays, they will be meeting for “Stepping Up.” You are very welcome to visit us. Thank your for the continued prayers and support.

October has been a month of many blessings at Vanderbilt MBC. God has blessed us with good preaching by Bro. Mike Schaub, Bro. Jeremy Glasscock, Bro. Jim Slocumb, and Bro. Wayne Stringer during my recent illness. We have had several visitors during the month and some are interested in becoming members of our church.

I had another stroke and have been in the hospital. Now I’m in rehab. I do not know how long I will have to be in rehab but I am improving. Please continue to pray for my recovery. Come and visit us at Vanderbilt anytime and continue to pray for our work in Tyler.

We continue working in East Texas and Pasadena. We had the privilege to baptize one in Pasadena. In October the highest attendance in Tatum was 14, in Longview 16 and in Pasadena 20.

We are going to make some changes in Center. The church has called Bro. Alfonso to be their Pastor. Bro. Pedro will be working in the Longview area doing outreach there and to encourage these people. Bro. Pedro will need their support and they agreed to do this. The Lord is blessing in a mighty way. Thanks for your prayers and support.

Our core group continues to solidify at Grace Pointe despite the fact that Satan has launched an all-out assault. Satan is working to discourage myself and the mission members. Many have had personal spiritual struggles and efforts by Satan to discourage all of us. Never-the-less, we move forward because God is with us.

The ladies of Grace Pointe attended the Southwest Association Ladies Retreat. That retreat helped our ladies to develop an even deeper level of fellowship. Since attending the retreat, the ladies have become very unified and passionate for the cause of Christ. The men are now asking when their retreat will be.

I was privileged to help Jessica put together a fall festival at the apartment complex where she works. We continue to make many contacts and minister to the residents. Some of the residents shared their backgrounds with me and some with Jessica. In speaking with some of them, I was overwhelmed with how much ministry there is still to do in Brownwood. We haven’t even scratched the surface.

As I prepare this report, I am getting ready to speak at a missions conference at Faith MBC in Round Rock. By the time you read this, we will probably have already been to the state meeting in Denison. I look forward to that time of fellowship every year.

We had a fun month. October 17th our ladies hosted the Central Texas District Ladies’ Auxiliary meeting. We enjoyed decorating the fellowship hall. They had a very good attendance. On October 24th we hosted the annual Central Texas MBA messenger meeting and Central Texas Mission Council quarterly meeting.

We are still having much illness in our church. But, everyone feels like the church has a very good spiritual attitude and we love and pray for each other. We have a very caring and loving church. Please pray for us that we might grow. Please pray that we will gain some young members to help keep this church going for the Lord.

October was a so-so month for us. Our attendance went up and down and wound up a little lower for the month. This month I attended the Pre-Associational meeting and the Shelby County local association meeting.

Heritage hosted a celebration rally for Texas Mission Builders. This meeting was a great success. It celebrated the 23rd anniversary of the completion of their first project. This is a good organization. We are working hard at Heritage and desire your prayers.

JIM SLOCUMB
TEXAS MISSION DEVELOPMENT

I continue to enjoy promoting the Texas Mission Development program. I was blessed this month by being able to attend several local association meetings and some local churches. I attended Mt. Zion Association meeting at Sunset MBC in Marshall, the Pre-Associational meeting hosted by Rocky Springs MBC in Dialville, the Old Cherokee Association hosted by First Baptist Church in Wells, and the Salem Association hosted by Tanglewood MBC in Atlanta. Illness hindered my attendance at two of the local association meetings that were on my agenda.

I attended the Mission Builders Appreciation Day in Center and a Mission Builders Coordinators meeting in Laneville. My preaching appointments in October included First Baptist Church in Wells, Vanderbilt MBC in Tyler, Rocky Springs MBC in Dialville, and Memorial MBC of Rusk. I am looking forward to the State MBA meeting in Denison.
