April was a good month for Texas State Missions. Offerings holding up really well. There was an increase in designated funds for LaMarque Mission. There were several special offerings for Resurrection Sunday. Those are appreciated. There was not as much emphasis put on Resurrection Sunday offerings this year because there was a good balance in the general fund. It is wonderful to know that the Lord’s churches are taking care of financial obligations in a faithful way. Let us all pray that when the fall comes around we will have churches who are willing to step out and sponsor God-called missionaries to the field in Texas and that we will continue to have the funds to support them.
The Texas Missions Conference was well attended. There were around 95 who registered prior to the meeting and some registered when they came to the Conference. This does not include the speakers and their families. There was probably around one hundred and fifty who attended all or part of the Conference. We are so thankful to the churches who financed this Conference. Plans are already being discussed for next year. If you have suggestions for the Conference, please write them down and mail to MBA of Texas, P.O. Box 450813, Garland, TX 75045-0813.
The Special Committee that was appointed at the meeting last November will have another meeting on June 1st. The function of this Committee is to recommend improvements, changes, challenges, etc. to the way we do our Mission work in Texas. These recommendations will be published in time for study prior to the meeting in Mt. Pleasant this November. Please pray for the Committee.
If you would like a visit from the Secretary/Treasurer for the MBA of Texas, please let me know.
Thank you so much for your support of Texas State Missions.

April was another busy month for Crossroads. We’re trying to take advantage of opportunities to make our presence known in the community. We set up a booth in a city celebration in Crowley this month and made several good contacts as a result. A lot of hours have been put into preparation for a Spring Fling we’re having on the church property on May 15th. We’ll have lots of games, activities and food to attract families, plus fund raising projects for our building fund. We’ll also have an open house for our building during the activities. We’re praying for good weather and lots of people. We have several prospects for membership. We’re praying the Lord’s will be done in that area. We received a total of $1327.00 from other churches. Thank you to all the churches and individuals who continue to support us in prayer and offerings.

In April I was privileged to attend the State Missions Conference in Garland. What a blessing! I appreciate having this opportunity. We were happy to receive Sandra Whisenhunt in April by letter. She has already proven to be a great asset to our church. Also in April our youth, as well as our ladies, began new studies. Our youth meet on Wednesday night and our Ladies’ Bible Study meets on Tuesday evenings. We also have begun a new study for our adults on Wednesday evenings. Our youth continue to have fund raisers for camp. As of this report we have 25 youth and adults signed up to go to camp in July. We continue to have a good number of guests in our Sunday services. We are so thankful for these and pray that they will join with us in serving here at Texas Avenue Baptist Church. Please continue to pray for us. Thanks again for your love and support.

We had one English speaker saved in church. A thirteen year old girl from our bus ministry accepted Christ. We also had 3 Hispanics saved while door knocking. Praise the Lord! He continues to bless us! We can sure use some help on our land and building fund. I don’t believe anything you could do would have to be full time. I believe we will be self supporting at least one year after being in a building. I think we are very close to getting started on our building. Please continue to pray for this. Bro. Jim Slocumb shared an idea with me the other day that I thought was great. We probably have more piano players and song directors in our sister churches that aren’t getting to use their talents and we need one of each. He said what if you could get folks to volunteer to come and work with you for 6 months to a year from another sister Church? What a great blessing that would be. So I am putting out such a plea to you right now. I know that this would be a great sacrifice for a Church and for any person to do but look what a blessing you could be to this mission. We would provide you a place to stay Saturday nights. I have a spare bedroom. We would also feed you. I am only asking for Sunday morning and Sunday night. Please pray about this if you have one of these talents. Please give me a call if you are interested.
I have been told that we are going to be receiving the second quarter IMD funds. Praise the Lord! I want to thank all who voted to make that possible. We are sure thankful for that. This is sure a worthy fund to support. We got to use it in Las Vegas also. If you are not supporting IMD I would like to encourage you to do so. I have met with the folks in Weatherford for the past three Monday nights. We go door knocking for about one and a half hours and then we have a class. I am teaching on soul winning. They are responding very well. We have already had one new man come and join our classes. We met him while door knocking. He went door knocking last night and did a great job. I believe this is going to be a great work for some church and some missionary. We had six adults plus me last night. Please pray about this. A very special thank you to our faithful supporters. We have received some great offerings this month from many fine Churches. Everytime you see someone saved here it is credited to your account in Heaven. You have made a great investment in the souls of Denton and may the Lord richly bless you for that.

One came and one went. Frank Homesley went home to be with the Lord after a short fight with cancer. He will be missed. One came. Caleb Wayne Ellis, newborn son of Charles and Michaella come weighing in at a little over 9 pounds. In April the phrase "They come and go" took on a new meaning around here. Kristy Hall followed the Lord in baptism during the month of April. She is soon to be married to a young man that was one of our first candidates for baptism, Jason Crouch. It’s true what they say "Time stands still for no man." A fellah from 20th Century fox came by here and wanted to use the worship facility to make a movie. My personal opinion he thought we would do anything for a buck. It is supposed to be an "R" rated movie. The "R" does not stand for religious. He will have to do his movie making somewhere else. Charles and Nancy Law dropped by to see us one Sunday morning. They were at one time involved with the mission on convict Hill in Austin, and an Air Force chaplain at Bergstrom Air Force Base. Great People, and a blessing to this work and to me personally. Hope you have a great Mother’s Day and a great month of May. You’ll come when you can.

God bless each and every one who has so graciously given to our mission. Beloved, your love is felt by all here at Pilot Point Missionary Baptist Mission. The work of the Lord is always forefront in our minds and the lost souls of our community are in our prayers. Our battle has been hard while some of our children were carried away by the Pentecostal Church. The battle lines have been drawn and no matter what it takes as long as we can we’ll teach the truth to the children of the enemy for as long as we can and we’ll win as many as we can before our Lord returns. School is almost out and Discovery will come to an end for the summer, but we here at the mission are going to have a Bible Basic Training Camp to keep those kids that are leaving busy. We need a good running bus or van to transport our children. We have very little money but we are expecting a good sum of money soon. Through God I know we can make some kind of arrangement with you on making the payments. Please if you have one available call me at (903) 271-1116. God bless you all my brothers and sisters in Christ. Keep us in your prayers.

Greetings to all of our Brothers and Sisters in Christ. April was an absolutely incredible month for the LaMarque Mission. There were 12 souls added to the body, including two for baptism. Easter Sunday was an awesome experience with over 120 in attendance for the morning worship service. The Mission continues to be a place of interest to the community and we thank God for the many souls that have been saved through our efforts. Continue to pray with us as we endeavor to reach as many for Christ as possible. We extend our deepest appreciation to Florida Avenue MBC, Woodville MBC Ladies Auxiliary, Calvary MBC in Baytown, Unity MBC and Baker Drive Baptist Church for your continued support. Beginning in mid-May, I am available for deputation work and would love to come and share with you and your congregation.
