What is the purpose of mission work? It is for the establishing and building-up of churches for the preaching of the gospel so that souls will be saved. A fellow pastor called me recently and stated that his church was in revival and he had baptized twelve during the revival. This should be, and probably is, the desire of all pastors and church members alike. It is not going to just happen but when we get burdened and busy doing the work of the Lord, He will bless with the saving of people and adding to His churches.

I believe that our mission work should include helping struggling churches that they might be revived and be a greater witness. In many instances pastors and missionaries struggle with knowing just how or what to do to reach out to the community in which they labor. Some of our brethren have experiences that would be helpful if shared. The recent Texas Missions Conference provided some very helpful information in that very area. We had a great Conference. I am just concerned that many missed a great opportunity to have gained information that could be helpful.

It will soon be time to send in the requests for support for the next Associational year. The requests must be in no later than September 15th. If your church plans to request support for a missionary or a project, get in touch with me for the required request form. If the proposed changes are made to the Mission Policy then projects including help with land and buildings will be considered.

One thing in the proposed changes is that churches requesting support should consider that the Missionary would be a man with the proper training and experience and not be a novice. God, in His Word, gives proof that He calls men who are busy and willing to be trained. He gives many examples of the training following the call to service. "Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that He would send forth laborers into His Harvest." (Luke 10:2)

Hopewell MBM of LaMarque sends greetings to all of our brothers and sisters in Christ. It is an honor and a privilege to share with you another month of wonderful things God has done for us. Although our attendance was down a bit our spirits were up and the excitement and enthusiasm was/is awesome. We did not have anyone saved for the month but had a number of rededications and five that united with us either by letter or statement. Our Men’s Brotherhood remodeled one of the larger classrooms to accommodate our new member orientation class. We will also use this room for our teenage BTC. We are in the process of painting and carpeting two more of the rooms. One to be used as a classroom and the other as office space. Our youth ministry is progressing well and we have between 35-40 children on the Saturdays that we meet for BTC. The youth ministry also sponsored a clothes drive that helped 35-40 children that were in need. We were really excited about the participation, as well as the success of this youth sponsored activity and look forward to the next one. We are also in the planning stages of publishing a monthly newsletter for distribution to our many supporters and to anyone interested in our work. Please continue to pray for us as we endeavor to do the Master’s will in carrying out the great commission. As always, we extend our deepest appreciation to Mission Bend BC of Houston, Woodville MBC Ladies Auxiliary, Calvary MBC of Baytown, Unity MBC of Richwood, Florida Avenue BC of Beaumont, Baker Drive BC of Dickinson and all that support our work. Thank you so much for considering our Mission and most of all thank you for your prayers.

Greetings My Brethren in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There were five professions of faith this month! Two of these were a Hindu couple that are here working and going to school. I am excited about the great possibilities for these two. Please pray for the follow-up on this couple. Another was a Hispanic lady who knew English better than I do. Please pray for her. The other two were from our bus ministry. They are two teenage girls. Please pray for their home life. These two were baptized this past Sunday along with two other teenagers. So we had five salvations and four baptized. Praise the Lord!

We are still trying to work with the City on the water line problem. There has been a new development on this problem. One of the engineers is trying to convince the City that we only need to put in an eight inch line. If this happens it would lower the estimated cost tremendously.

I continue to have hope in the development of this property because of the great location. This property has its own off ramp from the freeway which goes around Denton. The off ramp to this property is ½ mile from Interstate 35 which comes from Dallas. This is the first off ramp once you leave I35 onto loop 288. Location! Location! Location! This is why I continue to be convicted for this property. I continue to look for a way to get water to this property. Whatever size of water line the City decides we need to put in they are going to pay for an upsize to a 16 inch water line because they are expecting a tremendous amount of growth in this area. We have not received any offers on this property as of yet. If you would please put this on your prayer list.

This is a very important issue. I want you all to know how very special you are to this work. Your sacrificial giving for this work is overwhelming. You are, and always will be, a very special part of my ministry. I speak of you everywhere I go. Some of you have helped me my entire ministry. I thank all of you so very much.

Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ, It is with sad regrets to inform you that this will be my last report. On May 29th I will preach my last sermon here at Pilot Point MBM. Due to our inability to attract adults we felt compelled by those who oversee the Mission program to dis-continue trying to build a church in Pilot Point. For those concerned about our children we have made arrangements with a conservative Baptist Church in town to continue teaching them the values and beliefs that we have been teaching them for so long. These folks are blessed brothers and sisters in Christ and after extensive research I have found that they are the perfect candidate to help our children when we leave. For those who have faithfully supported us for all this time, your support was not wasted. Many souls have been saved and names added to the roles, just not the right age according to others. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support you have sent. God bless you with the blessings of joy and peace knowing that your support was not in vain.

April was an exciting month. We are still preparing for a new parking lot and will soon see the fruits of our labor. Brethren, we are asking for your vote for the TMD funds. With these funds we will be able to pay off the loan for our new parking lot and use the remaining balance to pay down on the property. This is a much needed request and we are prayerfully asking for your support. God is blessing us and His will is being carried out by men and women who love the Lord. Please pray about this matter as your help is much needed and appreciated. May God bless everyone who has a part in this blessed work.

When you’re living where progress is being made, there are always interesting things that come your way. We’ve talked a lot about all the construction that’s going on around our property. With that came roads with lots of potholes and bumps. So, we found out this week that the road in front of us and the road on the north of us (the only 2 direct access roads to our church) will be closed from May 9th until August 8th. This is great news because they will be putting in concrete streets and curbs where asphalt has been the norm. The bad news is that it’s going to really hinder people coming to our services, plus there won’t be any traffic by our church for several months. Normally we have hundreds of cars pass our property every day. The City has assured us they will leave one lane open during church times, but it’s still going to be a mess and a hindrance to our progress. Please pray for us during this time. There was a lot of door knocking and visiting going on this month. Hopefully those who said they were going to come will be able to find out how to get into the parking lot. We received a total of $1,104.00 from other churches. Thanks to those of you who faithfully support us through prayer and finances.
