Missionary Report for November 2004

TEXAS STATE MISSIONS REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 2004

Beginning Balance - $163,800.00

General Fund Offerings - $18,095.00

Missionary Salaries and Christmas Gifts - $10,397.00

Designated/LaMarque Mission - $334.00

Adm. Salaries and Expense - $3,026.00

Ending Balance - $168.218.00

When you read this we will be into 2005. It is my prayer that each individual and each church will have a prosperous new year as we all serve the Lord together.

Hopefully, each of you received a copy of the proposed changes to the State Mission Policy at the MBA meeting in November. If you need a copy, or additional copies, please let me know and they will be sent to you. It is important that everyone read, study and prayerfully consider the proposed changes so that when the time comes to vote everyone will understand and be ready to make a decision that will bring honor and glory to the Lord and increase our Mission work in Texas.

The second annual Texas State Missions Conference is planned for April 21st and 22nd. The speakers have been selected and the program is being worked on at this time. However, we do need churches to help with the finances for the Conference. The expenses last year were all covered by individual churches and nothing was taken out of the general fund. If your church would like to help sponsor the Conference, please let me know and send your check to the MBA of Texas office address.

If you would like for me to visit your church, I will be glad to do so. Just let me hear from you.

“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that He will send forth laborers into His field.”

We sent out the second monthly mailing to those who have moved into our zip code and Crowley. We have mailed 85 in each month. This just shows how fast our area is growing. The roads have been laid on the property across the road to the North of us and the property behind us has been sold to a developer. Construction is still going on all around us. There is a potential here for a very strong ABA work, but we must get our building up. At the rate our offerings are increasing, plus what we pay on rent monthly for our present building, we could handle the payments on a new building. But, we need help coming up with a substantial down payment. We’re praying weekly that God will lead some churches or individuals to help us soon. We have a special time of prayer for just that each Sunday morning. We received a total of $859.00 from other churches. We have been contacted by the Boy Scout Organization about starting a troop in our church. This could be an excellent outreach in the community if we can come up with enough workers to pull it off. Most of our men work long hours so it may not be possible right now. Thanks to those of you who voted to keep me on salary again this year. Our goal is to take on that responsibility soon. Continue to pray with us about our building and growth. The Lord has given us some very spiritually strong people this year, which gives us an excellent teaching ministry.

Thank you for your support over the last four years. Because you allowed God to work through you, Texas Avenue Baptist is now self-supporting. We are amazed at the many blessings our Father has bestowed on us. Many of those came about because of your love for missions. Four years ago this young church was just barely surviving from month to month. We were doing good just to pay the bills. Today, through God’s supply, we are doing better. A few years ago I challenged our folks to step up and step out in faith. We adopted a plan to be off of state salary at the four year anniversary of coming on at half salary. That’s all it took. The Lord has used that greatly to remind us here at T.A.B.C. that “Faith honors God and God always honors faith.” The members of Texas Avenue have stepped up and trusted the Master. We give Him all the glory. He enabled us to get to this point and we are looking forward to even greater things in the future. Thank you for your prayers and support of Texas Missions. Our thanks also goes to Brother and Sister Reed and the wonderful job they have done and are doing in promoting and encouraging Texas Missions and missionaries. I am thankful to God that I can count them as my friends. It has been an honor to be a missionary supported by the churches of the great state of Texas. Thanks again for your obedience to the Master and your love for missions.

Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ - What a blessing it was to be with you all at the annual Missionary Baptist Association of Texas meeting in Denison, TX My folks personally thank you for allowing them this opportunity to again reach out to the community here in Pilot Point, TX with the gospel of Jesus Christ, winning as many lost souls as we can before the Lord’s return. We are motivated and dedicated to the cause of Christ and we thank His ministers who have taken us under their wings to assist us in helping us reach our vision of some day having a church where we can be sending out the missionary to plant new churches. With your prayers and God’s blessing, I know this will be a success. God bless you all.

Happy Holidays to all and may the grace of our Lord be with you. Thank you for your prayers and support. I am recovering fine from the back surgery and have started to preach again. I will most likely be back to work before the new year. God is awesome! In November we continued with the annual feeding of the elderly for Thanksgiving. We prepared and delivered over one hundred dinners to the elderly in LaMarque and surrounding communities. Our group had a fun time and it was nice to be able to share the love of Christ with those that are so often overlooked.

My family would like to thank the MBA of TX for the Christmas gift of $200.00 and wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Again, thanks! We extend our deepest appreciation to Mission Bend BC, Woodville MBC Ladies Auxiliary, Calvary MBC of Baytown, Unity MBC of Richwood, Florida Avenue Baptist Church of Beaumont and Baker Drive BC of Dickinson for your continued support. Thank you so much for considering our mission.

North Lake has been receiving special offerings for Missions recently and we were able to give a very nice offering to Missions. We are in the process of moving into a larger unit at the same complex. Space had become a real problem, so we needed to move to a larger area. Thank you so much for giving us the Texas Mission Development Funds. We are very thankful to receive them. We owe less than $20,000 on our land which is worth over $400,000. I have also moved to a new area so that I could be closer to the Mission. My new address is 1219 Wenatchee Drive, Krum, TX 76249. The new telephone number is 940-482-5929. I do not have a new email address yet, but will soon.
