TEXAS STATE MISSIONS REPORT FOR OCTOBER 2004

Beginning Balance - $157,741.00

General Fund Offerings - $18,290.00

Missionary Salaries - $8,997.00

Designated/LaMarque Mission - $50.00

Adm. Salaries and Expense - $3,104.00

Ending Balance - $163,880.00

As I write this report, we are getting ready for the annual messenger meeting of the Missionary Baptist Association of Texas. It has been a good year financially. The Missionaries report a good number of souls saved and those added to their Missions. Of course, we are never satisfied. We, the Missionaries and myself, wish our results would have been greater but God does not tell us to have results. He says to go, preach the gospel, teach those who are saved and leave the results to Him. He will bless everything done according to His will. We must simply leave this past year, as well as the future, in his hands.

It is my prayer that the coming year will be a prosperous one, both in the number of souls saved and baptized, and in the number of those who truly commit their lives to God and the carrying out of His Great Commission.

If your church would like to have a visit by the Secretary-Treasurer, please let me know.

"PRAY YE THEREFORE THE LORD OF THE HARVEST THAT HE WILL SEND FORTH LABORERS INTO HIS FIELD."

Friends Day brought several visitors, giving us an attendance of 53, and other blessings. Southern Charm Trio presented the gospel music and testimony that led into the sermon on "My Friend." One of the trio members, Kathy, is the daughter of Harmon and Dolores Hunt. We’ve reached an agreement on the gas lease and should be closing that out soon. The City of Ft. Worth won’t allow the permit for Anterro to drill on our property, which is probably best since that would have left us only 4 acres to build on. They gave us $400 per acre for the lease and 20% royalty, so we’re pleased. Jerry and Linda Hardaway joined us this month and have worked with a mission before. They’ve already added some very good input and Jerry has helped in door knocking. We received a total of $1,453 from other churches. Continue to pray about our building situation. We still need a lot of money!! Thank you for your continued prayers and financial support.

There have been seven Hispanics saved and one English speaker while door knocking. We also had one 13 year old girl saved in church on Sunday. She is from our bus ministry. She was invited by Jessica Johnson. Jessica is one of our bus kids. She has been with us for about 3 ½ years. She is a great soul winner. She has led several of her classmates to the Lord on her school bus. She has been instrumental in bringing many to the Lord at Church. She sure loves the Lord! I wish I had a dozen like her! We had an outreach this month honoring our veterans, military and first responders. Bro. Roger Copeland was our speaker, Bro. James Bull was our song director. We also had Marty Haggard and The Bryant Sisters singing. Bro. Tony Harp, from our sponsor- ing church, came and helped us also. They all did a great job. We had a great time. Thank you all very much for coming. We are looking at moving into another unit in the same shopping center. It is twice the size of what we now have. We are having to put one class outside right now. That was ok in the summer months but it is going to be bad soon. This will, of course, cost us twice as much. Our rent will be about $1200.00 per month. This is at 50 cents per foot. The cost to everyone else in this mall is $4.00-$8.00 per foot. We feel blessed to have this price. We praise the Lord for His greatness in this matter. Please pray about the water line. It is the biggest obstacle that we have at this time. Our supporters are very special to us. You continue to help us very faithfully no matter what problems we face! Thank you very much for your love and concern for the lost souls here in Denton, TX.

While we have nothing extraordinary to report, we do have much to be thankful for. When Jesus sent out the 70, they came back very excited about their ministry and the power of God. So are we. In Luke 10:20, Jesus said to them, "Notwithstanding, in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven." We like that!

Offerings averaged $1,546.15 a week. Attendance averaged 48 in Sunday School, 70 in Sunday Morning Worship and 37 on Sunday Night; 30 on Wednesday night. Gave $700.00 to Missions.

We still have a lot of sickness. Please remember in prayer David and Cathy Anderson, Pat Richardson, Margaret Hammer, Teri Wilson, Charles Ellis and please pray for the work that is set before us. We have much to do. We had Randy and Sandra Cloud drop by and preach and sing for a few days. Great preaching, great singing and just great people. The ABA is blessed to have them, as were we. We hope that you are doing well, and appreciate your support of this work. May the Lord bless you richly.

We continue to have a good number of guests in all of our services. It is our prayer that these will commit to join with us soon. We have some who are asking questions and show interest in being a part of our church family. Thanks to every one who supports Texas Avenue Baptist with prayers and finances.

What a glorious opportunity to serve God in the capacity of Missionary to Pilot Point Missionary Baptist Mission! October was another wonderful month of true worship of our Great God and Saviour Jesus Christ. What blessings of liberty he has bestowed upon us all by giving us this time and place to teach His word to all who will hear. We want to thank all who continually send support our way and we deeply appreciate the sacrifice you make to help us. God richly blesses by helping us maintain our averages while at the same time He keeps us praying for an increase. We know it will happen in His time and not our own. We ended the month with a fall festival at the mission where the kids played games for prizes and ate nachos. We had a number of visitors attend and we made them feel welcome and invited all to come to church the next morning. Pray for us as we continue to do the Lord’s work here in Pilot Point. Please consider helping us pay off our van note. Current payoff is $3,953.99. God bless you all!

What an awesome privilege it is to be a missionary and to share the good news of Christ. It is also a tremendous blessing to witness God's power at work in changing the lives of so many people as they come to know Jesus as Lord. We are thankful to all those that support Hopewell MBM and encourage others to join in support of our work in LaMarque. Most Sunday morning services are filled to capacity and we are in need of a more accommodating place to worship. We are considering going to two worship services in the morning. All of the churches/buildings for sale in the area are out of our price range. Thanks to the Texas Mission Development (Hopewell was awarded 1/2 of the fund) we will soon have a building fund started. This was great news and the entire congregation is excited about the foundation that is being laid for us to begin this effort. October was another exciting month for us as we celebrated our one year anniversary. It was also a month in which we broke our attendance record and had twenty new members join with four of those being candidates for baptism. We are still getting a large number of first time visitors every service. On Oct. 30th we celebrated our second annual Fun Festival and had nearly 200 neighbors, members and their family stopping by to share with us. There were lots of activities for everyone including horse rides for the kids, wagon rides for the adults, a goat to pet for the tiny tots, and plenty of games and food. We used this opportunity to witness to many of our guest and concluded the day with a special prayer gathering with some young men from Pathway to Recovery. We also began our young adults ministry for our Jr. High and High School age group. My wife, Sis. Sharrell, is working with this group and there were twelve present for their first session. We are really excited about these young people and expect their attendance to increase weekly. We are looking at the Discovery program as a ministering tool for them. If someone has a young adult ministry in place, we are open for ideas and guidance. I underwent back surgery on Nov. 1st to repair a herniated disc in my lower back. I am to begin physical therapy soon and look forward to a full recovery soon. Thanks to all those that visited, called, and prayed for me. Please continue to pray as I believe God for total healing and restoration. We are excited and encouraged about what God has done and continues to do through our efforts. We extend our deepest appreciation to Mission Bend BC, Woodville MBC Ladies Auxiliary, Calvary MBC of Baytown, Unity MBC of Richwood, Florida Avenue Baptist Church of Beaumont and Baker Drive BC of Dickinson for your continued support. Thank you so much for considering our mission.
