On February 2, 1986 Texas Mission
Builders was organized under the sponsorship of Sulphur Springs
Baptist Church, Mt. Enterprise, Texas. Under the sponsorship and
leadership of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, Texas Mission Builders was
very successful and blessed of God. Truck, trailers, forklift and an
excellent supply of tools were obtained. There was also a great number
of churches that became regular financial supporters of the work. Many
Missionary Baptist people volunteered to create a work force across the
state of Texas.
On November 9, 1994 Sulphur Springs Baptist Church
voted to transfer the sponsorship of Texas Mission Builders to East Side
Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Texas. Under the leadership of East Side
Baptist Church, Texas Mission Builders has continued to grow and enjoy
the blessings of God.
Bro. Leroy Smith has been the leader of the operation
from the beginning to the present. Bro. Smith was the pastor of the
sponsoring church at the beginning of T.B. He has always been the
supervisor in charge of the building and still holds that position at
the present time. Bro. Smith has a great burden to help the Missionary
Baptist Association of Texas with their building programs. Bro. Gary
Griffith works two day a week as a crew leader. Bro. Griffith has worked
with T.B. for over eight years. His dedication and hard work are a great
blessing to the program. L.D. Wilson and Larry Chandler are also
committed to T.B. and work on a regular schedule.
Texas Mission builders have worked on 77 jobs up to
the present time. Many of these have been complete buildings. Some have
been remodeling and additions to existing buildings.
Volunteers are always needed. Bro. Smith has said
that if every church that has been helped by T.B. would have one man
come just one day a month, there would be all the volunteers we would
ever need.

In the past, missions and churches have, at times,
settled for much less than was needed in the area of construction of new
buildings or additions to their existing buildings because of the high
cost of material and labor. The central purpose of Texas Mission
Builders is to give Missionary Baptists the opportunity to do greater
work for the Lord in the future by:
1. Organizing a volunteer work force to help in the
construction of church buildings or additions to existing buildings free
of charge.
2. The soliciting of people within our churches of
various skills and crafts to use their talents for the Lord.
3. To compile a list of names and addresses of people
who would be willing to volunteer their services.
Each church within their local association should
seek to identify and encourage those who are willing to participate,
whether skilled or unskilled, in any particular area.
To have co-ordinators who will help to relay and
publicize information concerning projects.
T.B.’s immediate plan is to assist missions and
churches within our local associations in reducing the amount of money
spent on labor for their building projects. Our long range plans are to
assemble such a work force that entire building programs could be
carried out by people participating in T.B.
1. Texas Mission Builders will be an auxiliary of

church that associates with the MBA of Texas.
3. Officers will consist of a board of directors
elected by the sponsoring church. All officers, co-ordinators, and
salaried workers will be approved by the sponsoring church.
